Yeah, about the movie - TWOTW is set in ENGLAND! Not the US, =P Also, it didn't have any of the characters in it - like the Thunderchild! I loved Thunderchild. =P The movie was alright, but I thought it was disappointing. I lvoed WOTW Live, it was the best live event I've ever seen - I'm going back to see it again in 2009, can't wait!

I would have agreed with you until fairly recently. The problem with Spielberg's version, as far as I can make out, isn't one of setting. The problem is that it's a Tom Cruise vehicle and not much of the tone of the book has been preserved. The story itself can be set in different times and places and still be good -- take the Orson Welles / Harold Koch version from the 1930s, for example. But... yes. I'd love to see a good version in its original setting.

Simply Epic is an understatment.. its one, if the not the best live show thats ever been shown.... as far as speilberg is concerned, hes american, so would u expect any better ? anyways jeff wayne is officially planning a new CGI version of the film, apparently made by the same ppl who did final fantasy a few years back and its going to be based on the book !!!!

This isn't HG Wells' War of the Worlds, this is Steven Speilbergs War of the Worlds. I have yet to see a movie adaptation of this book that actually tries to recreate it!!

In comparison to the other War of the Worlds movie (1953), it involves the book a little more (vampiric aliens, red weed, etc) but does take it in new directions (aliens under the Earth, etc). It's not completely portraying the novel but nobody said it did.

im so glad this one stuck with what the book had frum the beginning. i really didnt like the one made in modern day, though the efects were good, they still butchered it the first time. ill b looking for this version.

You should really listen more in class then. It wasn't a japanese play, it was an American play, performed by Orson Welles, based upon the English Sci-Fi novel, "The War of the Worlds", by H.G Wells. The japanese had nothing to do with it, at any point.
