It's completely inaccurate but who cares. Newton is hysterical hamming it up as Blackbeard. No one has ever done a pirate better and his over the top performance is the stereotype mannerisms people always think of with pirates. They have talk like a pirate day because of this performance. The movie is actually fairly entertaining and many remember the ending and how they kill him. If you watch it with an eye towards comedy you'll like it. They didn't mean it to be historical.
