@Laugerman, Star was and Empire Strikes back didn't use computer graphics, those were minature models + drawn in effects for sabers etc. Tron was pretty state of the art for its time graphic wise. Great movie, daringly different and unusual back then.

For those of us that work in the computer industry and where kids when the original debuted, remember how HUGE it was - ushering in concepts like "user" to the mainstream long before Apple MacIntosh debuted. Unfortunately the power of coding was underscored in the original, something I hope they highlight in THIS movie.

They used the same technology to make Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen younger in a flashback scene in X-Men: The Last Stand. I really would like to see what Tron himself looks like. Can't wait to see this film.

Came out in '80 or so. First movie ever that had any CGI in it, some was done by hobbyists that went pro later. Premise is that an evil computer program is gaining power over the real world. Main character (Bridges) is a programmer who gets "de-res'd" (de-resolved) - transformed into a program inside the mainframe, and has to fight for his life on the Game Grid. Plot is sorta lame, but effects and technology were ground-breaking. Try to rent or buy the DVD that has the "making of" features.
