Most of the Division remained in Tobruk up to the end of the Tobruk break out. Someone had to train the Polish on how it all worked there and the Australians knew it best, along with the Fusiliers. They taught the Poles how to patrol properly out on the line, the best defensive positions and how the German tactics worked. After that the Polish were pretty self sufficient, very good soldiers. But the problem with them is that they brought the hate to the Tobruk battle.

The rest of the 9th were withdrawn for well-earned rest and was replaced by a British Division (with strong Polish and Czech elements) which in turn distinguished itself. and broke out...No argument about Churchill, but - Bob Menzies? - As far as I'm aware, the 2/13th, the Northumberland Fusiliers and the Tobruk Tanks - plus some signals etc. people - were the only troops to stay through the whole siege...

no Rommel was'nt a NAZI, but you can bet cash money that amongst the thousands of brave and resourceful GERMAN soldiers who fought in North Africa, there were some and maybe even a lot. not that it mattered, because we respected and admired him and his troops as much as we hated them.

Romel was not lucky... He managed to avoid Three Times Montogmerys tries tp cut him off... Rommel fought an exremly brilian rearguard action,thats eavn being studied today... And at el-alamian Montgomery lost more tanks than Romel has eavn started whit...

no the British werent lucky..the Problem was Rommels supply and Fuel line..but Rommel was lucky to escape El-aleemain(spellen?)And as High Ranking Nazi said."The British may not win all Battles..but they win the last one"
