ON TOP OF satire/making fun of what is perceived as "bad" or "trite" being the entire POINT of Dell'arte.

Hey Mr. Theatre Professor... I think that a conceptual Dell'arte style take on Tartuffe is pretty original, what with all of the sexual intrigue in the play and all. Second, creative interpretations of "bad" SCRIPTS sometimes make for really good PERFORMANCES. Finally, don't you think, as with any art form, theatre is subjective and your perception of bad may not be the same as someone else? I don;t think you are the art a service by berating a performance. It's sort of disrespectful.

I should add, that the soundtrack to "Le Roi Danse" is also excellent.

Yes, that's my point. Vivaldi would not be appropriate, either, being Italian & late Baroque. I said faux Mozart because the music they use here is more characteristic of the light sound of the Classical age rather than the dark, rich sound of early French Baroque. Louis XIV wanted to create a uniquely French music & arts culture, & allowed Lully to practically choke out foreign competition. Maybe I'm biased--I prefer the soundtrack to Mnouchkine's "Moliere"--darker & more period-appropriate.

It's summer from the four seasons of Vivaldi... Faux Lully would be more appropriate in your critic... Mozart was never at the court of Louis XIV.
