Fans seem to lampoon More for this film. However after TSWLM the next movie was going to be FYEO but because of the success of TSWLM and movies like the Empire Strikes Back Bond producers rushed out Moonraker, a basic remake of the SWLM but set in space.

sexxysara, If Moore had not returned for Octopussy and A view to a Kill, had he retired from the role after For Your Eyes Only, we would not be having this conversation. I think the fact that he did grow old in the part has tarnished his legacy, for some.

No, Dalton was a flop either way. They should have used Brosnan for Moore's replacement earlier, by buying him out of his NBC contract. They also started to go cheap on the budgets during the later 1980s which is why the films look like B-movies until Goldeneye.
