The original idea was to stick to the subtitles, yes, but then I realized that it would be easier to kind of make people see what was going on in Nikita's head with voiceovers.

If you've watched every single episode of the TV series, and you honesty still stick with the opinion that the original film was better, then you need a lobotomy. I'm usually the first to say that the originals are always the best, but this is an exception to the rule. Totally!

Please remember that in all creative work, even trailers, there is an element of collaboration. And that sometimes studios and releasing companies have very different ideas about what will sell the film. There was a better trailer prepared (IMHO) but this is what got finished.
