this movie is good, ...
this movie is good, but my one main criticism is that it takes away some of the book's depth and conforms the story to fit the time period better. the music didn't really help its case either.

I think it's ...
I think it's interesting how different the Esmerelda in this version and the Esmerelda in the Disney version are. It just goes to show how the view of women has changed in the last 70 years or so. This Esmerelda was so soft spoken and afraid all the time. The one in the movie was strong and sure and a true heroine. But this is how they portrayed a lot of women in pictures back then, as the damsel in distress, which is a shame.

Once again I will say we need a U.S uncut DVD release of Hunchback. I have an old 80's VHS of it released by All Seasons Video. It was cut and retitled The Rue Morgue Massacre. Quite a few of his DVDs were released by BCI / Eclipse in the U.S. They just went out of business recently
