My theory is that this shot was shot along with all the other quick little snips of Hamlet and Ophelia sleeping together...in the actual play, it's never confirmed whether or not Hamlet and Ophelia slept together, but Branagh implies it with these quick shots of them sleeping together scattered through the film...this shot probably just never ended up being used.

Sorry, i know what you're going for (maybe) but there was nothing wrong with the original. Not everything needs "updating"...do you really discount the intelligence of your audience to that degree ? The soliloquy looked good...but everything else was disjointed and random...and i must insist, Hamlet need not be brought into the 21st century. It's perfect as is. I know you mean no disrespect, though, and I don't either.

It's quite interesting at the moment as we have had several offers from distributors to release Hamlet internationaly in theatres and we are currently negotiating the best option. As for Hamlet and Horatio kissing at the end it is true however in our version Horatio is female. Lots of the characters have been changed but the original text remains.
