This movie is a remake of the bible with an 80's twist to it. I never did like the bible but I love this story because it's more kick-ass. Paul Atredies is the Jesus Christ and he has a sister. Science Fiction just doesn't get any better than this.

The only actor I think is cast right in this film is Sting. I think he made a great Feyd Rautha. Thats about it. I love Patrick Stewart, but he aint no Gurney.

The weirding way was in the book, it's what the Fremen call the unarmed fighting style that Paul and Jessica knew and used against the Fremen when Stilgar found them in the cave.

Its a follow on from the Sci-Fi channels more recent Mini-Series of Dune but if you have read the Book then you can dive straight in but the earlier Dune is worth watching. The books are better though!

is this a direct sequel to the one from the 80's or more like another adaptation of the book(s)..or both? lol Just wondering if seeing the first one is required in order to follow this one. I've seen the 80's one and read the first book, just wondering.

Any dune book will be ass raped. Those books were so amassed with writing that any good movie based on those books will be broken down. Remember the Lord Of The Rings movies were three hours plus long and they still had to cut out whole parts from the screenplay.

I don't know, when i was reading the book I imagined it looking more like this. Lynch's version to me was mostly just weirdness for the sake of weirdness.

I didn't mind either series, but actually I thought Children of Dune was done better too.

The Lynch version ...
The Lynch version gets the look, costumes, sets, settings, the darkness of the book. Although it lacks in story continuity, the feel is dead-on how I envision the Dune universe. It's a gritty, medieval monarchy that just so happens to have guns and shields. This version just looks like some goofy comic book. The costumes are laughable.

What the Fuck. William Hurt Can't be LETO. Hasn't he been thoroughly ruined enough?

Both versions have sucky moments. The movie is the worst, I think. The overacting, the crappy FX, Paul's D. Hasselhof hairdo - the list can be hours and miles. The miniseries also has it's its own crappyness, like awful costume designs (Irulan's butterfly dress LOL) and new yet STILL crappy FX. The thing that saved it was that it's easier to see it as a recorded theatre play rather than TVshow. The performances of Alec Newman, Saskia Reeves and others held higher quality.

If only David Lynch could have made Dune more like this. I was a little bit dissapointed by his, I was hoping it would be one of those underrated classics as awesome as "Star Wars" or "The Lord of the Rings." How wrong I was, I have somewhat mixed feelings about it.
