The theatrical version was noticeably hacked up in several parts. I didn't see the missing footage either. Had those parts been included back in 1985, the movie would have been rated R.
No, the standards ...
No, the standards for PG-13 and PG changed between 1985 and the late 90's. When it was released on VHS it was the same as the theatrical version, but it no longer merited PG-13 as public standards had laxed considerably.

I had heard about them as well...I wish they would put them on a dvd...they can always have a warning...I know there was a deleated scene in exoricist that you can only see online.

I read about them in several places, they're fairly well known. Unfortunately it's doubtful they'll be on the DVD. More likely is that it'll be the deleted song.
