I have to admit this movie was really well done. I loved it, but Mayans weren't like that. They were a scientific race they never fought, those were the Mexicas or Aztecs or however you want to call them. But sadly Mel Gipson never made a true research about them and maybe he thought all prehispanic cultures were like that. Remember that when spanish arrived to America they only found some scattered mayan tribes but never the true civilization cos they just vanished out of nowhere.

The movie is actually about the ending of the mayan civilization to criticize our own society : an advanced and cruel society, which is about to fall apart. And we are responsible of the 2012 bullshit, not the mayans. They only did a calendar, that's it. And by the way, the mayans were far more intelectual than we actually are. They did all the main astronomical discoveries almost 1100 years before the NASA did ... think it twice before writing shit like you did.
