I got both versions ...
I got both versions, original and dub, jap and english, and i do think the voices and speech are just dumb, on the old version, like the colonels voice doesnt suit him, but if you've saw the original first then it can be hard to get used to a re-dub.

I love Akira, i just think it's a pure example that Bluray does not improve old sckool animation. I myself have quite a lot of Bluray dvds, all of which are recent new films, mainly films with a lot of special effects, cus i believe bluray enhances this enormously, (try watching TF1 on blueray looks awsome), i know we all love our classic films, and want to bring them into the nex-gen digital age but honestly, they dont gel. Filmakers back then never knew things would get like this.
