The whole story is inaccurate, since it is widely acceptred that each spartan was accompanied by 10 helots, which raises the 300 to 3300... But Romans dressed like greeks. The roman empire widely adoptet knowledge from the overthrown cultures they waged war on. So was the lorica hamata, the chainmail, a celtic envention, for example.

Persians did not practice slavery as it was banned by Cyrus the Great. Xerxes was no maniac. and Spartans didnt dress like Romans. This movie is also very inaccurate.

This film is not historically Accurate either! Persians didn't dress in Black and they had colorful dresses that even impressed Alexander. And Persians didn't invoke the war, the Greeks did by attacking Persia first. Plus, Xerxes offered the Spartans safety many times, even at the very end when they regroup in a circle. He tells them that they are welcome in his country. He was much more merciful that it is depicted here.

You know. Now that ...
You know. Now that Halo 3 is out and they have the thater mode I would love to see this re-done with different Spartan and Elite models. Plus if you use the three new maps you can get that cool filter to make it look all gritty like 300 does.

so true the hittities as what they called if i remember correctly, they had no horses but one of the best hand to hand fighters. every country has his own elite of the elite fighters they can compare to eachother the difference between the spartans and other elite fighters were the spartans only can fight really good in groups not as a single unit wich for example the kensei samurai could.

I also want to point out a warrior that gets no credit at all but The Hawaiian warriors were pretty amazing as well they were raised with the same mentality as spartans if you were born with birth defects or you were to small you were killed. The martial art they mastered in for hand to hand combat consist of breaking bones nerve hits and severing. its very intense. So the Hawaiians should get some credit for there warriors.
